Terms of Service

Welcome to Fride. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Fride mobile application and related services (the "Platform").

By using Fride, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

1. IMPORTANT: NATURE OF SERVICE

FRIDE IS NOT A RIDESHARE SERVICE.

Fride is a software platform only that facilitates communication and coordination between users, including volunteer drivers and riders affiliated with university organizations.

Fride:

  • Does NOT provide transportation services
  • Does NOT employ drivers
  • Does NOT operate vehicles
  • Does NOT verify drivers, vehicles, or insurance
  • Does NOT guarantee safety, availability, or quality of any ride

All transportation is arranged directly between users.

2. USER ELIGIBILITY

You must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a valid university-affiliated email
  • Provide accurate account information

By using the Platform, you represent that:

  • You meet all eligibility requirements
  • You are legally capable of entering into this agreement

3. USER ROLES

Users may act as:

  • Riders
  • Volunteer Drivers
  • Organization Admins

Each role carries different responsibilities. Fride does not supervise or control any user behavior.

4. DRIVER DISCLAIMER (CRITICAL)

If you act as a driver:

  • You are a volunteer, not an employee or contractor of Fride
  • You are solely responsible for:
    • Your driving behavior
    • Your vehicle condition
    • Your insurance coverage
    • Compliance with all laws

Fride does NOT:

  • Conduct background checks
  • Verify licenses
  • Inspect vehicles
  • Provide insurance

You assume ALL risks associated with driving.

5. RIDER DISCLAIMER (CRITICAL)

If you request a ride:

  • You understand rides are provided by independent individuals
  • You assume all risks of entering a vehicle
  • You are responsible for verifying driver identity

Fride strongly encourages:

  • Verifying the ride code
  • Confirming driver details before entering a vehicle

6. NO PAYMENT PROCESSING

Fride does NOT:

  • Process payments
  • Set prices
  • Facilitate compensation

Any exchange of money is:

  • Outside the Platform
  • Not monitored or controlled by Fride

Fride is not responsible for disputes related to payments.

7. SAFETY DISCLAIMER

Fride makes NO guarantees regarding:

  • Safety of rides
  • Conduct of drivers or riders
  • Accuracy of location data
  • Response times

You use the Platform at your own risk.

8. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

FRIDE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Personal injury or death
  • Property damage
  • Accidents or collisions
  • Criminal acts by users
  • Harassment or misconduct
  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK.

9. INDEMNIFICATION

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Fride and its owners from any claims arising out of:

  • Your use of the Platform
  • Your conduct
  • Your participation in any ride
  • Any violation of these Terms

10. USER CONDUCT

You agree NOT to:

  • Harass, harm, or endanger others
  • Provide false information
  • Use the app for illegal purposes
  • Impersonate others
  • Abuse the system

Fride may suspend or terminate accounts at any time.

11. ACCOUNT TERMINATION

We reserve the right to:

  • Suspend or terminate accounts
  • Remove content
  • Restrict access

At our sole discretion, without notice.

12. DATA & LOCATION USE

By using Fride, you consent to:

  • Collection of location data during rides
  • Storage of ride history
  • Use of data to operate the Platform

13. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

Fride uses third-party services (e.g., maps, hosting, notifications). We are not responsible for their performance or policies.

14. DISPUTES & ARBITRATION

Any disputes shall be resolved by:

  • Binding arbitration
  • No class actions

You waive your right to:

  • Jury trial
  • Class action lawsuits

15. CHANGES TO TERMS

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance.
